Project: brand strategy for a public art placemaking event
Role: naming, strategy, writing, design, street painting
This project was an exercise in design strategy. The inception of the project was a request by the client to make a street mural. In mining the client further for what they ultimately wanted to achieve we were able to back up and illuminate the need for branded event. The identity system I proposed would help communicate the goal of the project as well as help market the event to the public and provide way-finding solutions.
I helped with naming the event, then developed a logogram using the language (shapes and colors) of street signage, and then used that mark to create a stencil system that became a way to communicate the temporary redefinition of the space, as well as the mural they were originally looking for.
